Proposed Veterans Tour To St Palais

Proposed trip to St Palais on 9 November 2007. As most of you will be aware Moffat RFC have been invited to visit St Palais RFC in Southern France between Friday 09/11/2007 and Monday 12/11/2007. The date of the trip has been arranged to coincide with St Palais' annual veterans game against a team from Narbonne .
Moffat veterans have been asked to participate in a three way round robin tournament - a daunting prospect, but no doubt an enjoyable one. We are in contact with Helen Grimes, who is co ordinating things at the French end and details of the trip are very much in the planning stage.
We have investigated flights and it would appear that the most suitable flights are provided by BA. The flights are from Glasgow - Gatwick - Bordeaux .. the flights would leave on Friday morning and return on Monday evening. At the moment we can get the flights for the amazing price of £81 return inc taxes. St Palais is a 2 hour drive from Bordeaux so it is our intention to organise a coach to ferry to and from the airport.
Our French hosts are willing to provide accommodation, probably along the same lines as was supplied in Moffat i.e most staying with families and some in hotel accommodation. To keep things fair the cost of any hotel accommodation will be split between all those on the trip.
As you can see the cost of the trip is very reasonable and we will do our best to keep costs down to the minimum. It is hoped that we will be able to raise some cash, through events etc, which will keep the cost down further. The trip is open to all, however it must be noted that the trip does include 2 games of rugby so Players will be essential on the trip. I would anticipate that a total number of persons travelling would be 50 (ie a coach load) however we will have to wait and see what the interest is.
It is essential that we are able to book our air flights early, to keep the costs down and to help finalise the travel arrangements. As such all those wishing to travel should pay a deposit of £100 prior to MARCH 17. This will allow us to buy the flights.
A bank account is to be opened and will be operated by Neil MacPherson and Gus Campbell. You may use this account to save extra monies for the trip if you wish.
I would ask that you confirm your interest (by e mail if possible) to me at neil.macpherson3@btopenworld.com.
If you are a player please append preferred position (no jokes please)
Lets make this a trip to remember
Regards Neil MacPherson
