Moffat Rams V Mclaren - Final Home Match Of The Season

Published on 10 April 2007 at 17:01:00

For the last time this season the Rams currently lying in 3rd place are at home against McLaren on Saturday in a match which could see them consolidate their promotion challenge.

With two league games to go this match is crucial. Circumstances elsewhere in the national league structure mean there is a likelihood that the top three teams will qualify for promotion to play in Regional 1 next season.

If a result elsewhere goes their way on Saturday and the League Champions Strathclyde Police beat 2nd placed Shawlands then two wins by the Rams could see them leapfrog into second place and gain promotion for the third successive season on merit rather than by default.

Moffat captain Jamie McDowall is calling for the legendary Moffat support to come and cheer on the team in what could be an historic day for Moffat rugby. He said "the great support we get at Holm Park means so much to the players and a big crowd would add to what we hope will be a special occasion for the Rams. Hopefully another chapter in our short history will be written on Saturday afternoon".

All players are to meet at the Holm at 1.45 pm. Please confirm availability or otherwise to Andy Ferguson on 01387 259304

The match kicks off at 3.00 p.m.
